Too Hot To Handle: Approaches to Working with Infidelity, Porn, and “Sex Addiction”-16 CE’s

Join us for the final class in this school year’s offerings from the New Earth Institute’s Human Sexuality Certificate Program (offering 16 AASECT CE’s and 16 New Mexico CEU’s):

Too Hot To Handle: Therapuetic Approaches to Working with Infidelity, Porn, and “Sex Addiction”

Infidelity, porn, and the concept of “sex addiction” are subjects that often bring up strong emotions in both clients and therapists. Additionally, many therapy training programs do not cover these subjects in detail, leaving professionals to find their own way through these tricky and common concerns. This class will combine the most up-to-date practices in sex therapy with exploration of the “self-of-the-therapist.” Participants will examine how their own histories and beliefs around affairs, erotic material, and “compulsive,” or what sex therapists are increasingly referring to as “out-of-control sexual behavior” (OCSB) might show up in their work with clients. We will explore models of working with infidelity and OCSB and examine the possible positives and negatives of erotic materials. Participants will practice managing the “heat” of their own reaction to make sure they are always prioritizing the needs of the client(s).

This is an online, synchronous, weekend intensive class taught by Laura Rademacher, MA, LMFT, CST, CSTS. I am the Director of the Human Sexuality Certificate Program at NEI and the author of The Principles of Pleasure: Working with the Good Stuff as Sex Therapists and Educators.
