Two bananas in the same position as two humans in spooning position. The outside banana has part of it's peel wrapped around the inside banana as if they are cuddling.

Anatomy of Couple’s Therapy-16 AASECT & National Board of Certified Counselors CE’s

I’m excited to announce the next online class offered by Southwestern College/New Earth Institute’s Human Sexuality Certificate:

Anatomy of Couple’s Therapy

Saturday and Sunday, October 10 & 11, 2026

9am-6:30pm Mountain Time Zone

Online Synchronous

DESCRIPTION:  Drawing from the work of Resmaa Menakem, John and Julie Gottman, and Ester Perel, this course introduces participants to current theories and practices for working with couples.  Participants are introduced to diverse ways of working with couples’ desire discrepancies, infidelities, and loss of interest. Connections between consent and pleasure, and the dichotomy of safety versus passion will be examined. Particular emphasis is placed on helping clients develop a capacity for mutual recognition and empathic attunement. Participants will practice renegotiating the relationship based on a more conscious understanding of each partner’s individual subjectivity using Resmaa Menakem’s somatic concept of the five anchors for clients and therapists alike to remain present and effective during conflict.

This course offers 16 CE’s for the following:
